Take A Stitch Tuesday / Week 21 Crossed buttonhole stitch
I really enjoyed exploring this stitch for this sample. Its a great stitch with potential for many more ideas than seen in my sample.
The first row in pink was a practice row to get the flow of the stitch going.
The second row in pink I stitched 1 short cross and 1 tall cross alternating across the row. I then stacked another row working the alternating short and tall cross buttonhole with previous row to create the pattern. I added the blue seed beads which highlight the difference in the stitch heights.
The third row is two rows of evenly space and even height overlapping each other.
The fourth row in burgundy is my favorite row on this sample. It will be a nice band on a crazy quilt block.
The fifth row in green and pink I extended the leg of the cross on the rigth and added a detatched chain stitch for a bud. This will also be a nice seam treatment.
The blue was playing with spacing in floss . Liked the stitching better in the perle cottons.
the bottom row lavendar stitches was heavier perle.
The bottom burgundy section was stacking with a longer leg which has potential to create a seperate pattern if they are squashed together a bit more.
