Tast - Week 23 Wheatear Stitch
This is my sample on 14 ct. Aida cloth.
There are so many examples that I like on this one that I can't pick an absolute favorite.
The first vertical row in pink is the base stitch.
In the second vertical row in pink I added extra legs to it. I like this variation . I will use this as a seam treatment on block in the future.
In gold I stacked the stitch. I like the texture created by stacking.
The motif in Pink is a favorite. This variation will make a great spot motif or stitched smaller will make great flowers on a vine in stem stitch.
the next motif in pink also is nice. It too will make a nice spot motif or flower.
the next one in darker pink is interesting and would be fun worked into a texture pattern.
the green motif is another favorite.
the multicolor flower was fun. Instead of straight stitches I used pistil stitches to create an interesting center.
the last flower was worked with the bullion stitch. I dont like the fiber I chose because it looks a bit messy but I think in a different fiber it will work nicely.
This is a bag front I am working on. I used wheatear stitch, bullion knots, chain stitch, whipped wheels, and couching so far on this project.
The paisley in the center will have beads added to create sparkle.
The swirl on the fabric looked like an "S" so I just followed it it chain stitch to represent the initial of the person who will be receiving it for a gift.
I can say that it is a gift for them because there are 5 females with the initial "S" in the family so they wont know who it's for. It will keep them guessing who will get it. Have to wait till Christmas to find out.!! As i sit and giggle to myself thinking how fun it is to tease them all.
