The stitch for this week is the barred chain stitch. you can see Sharon's samples here.
I really had a lot of ideas with this stitch but I couldn't stitch them all.
I tried stacking the stitches and really liked the look which got me thinking of a project that I've been working on in my head and on paper for quite some time. So I decided to give it a try.
The first photo is my regular 14 count Aida cloth sample. I experimented with different threads on the piece.
This second photo is of a a free form piece I created using the Barred chain , twisted chain, and chain stitch for the majority of the stitching. The circles were made by stitching spoke flowers. I added beads to give some sparkle to the piece. This piece will be used as part of a custom made cell phone case for a flip phone.
This next photo is a close up of the spoke wheel. The color isnt right on this one but it shows the stitching nicely.
I had to remove the link to my email from my blog due to a large number ( 4500) spam emails sent to me. If you have a comment or question please leave it in the comment box at the end of the post you are reading. Vox sends me notification of all comments and I will answer them as time allows me too.
Thank you for reading my Blog.
As I posted in an earlier post I had a really hard time with this block. I finally resolved to stitch it, make the patterns, and put the kits together for my students to see what they came up with to add to it. So here it is kind of complete? But I had to let it go and move on because I have other blocks and kits to design.
I do like the little thread crocheted shamrock I made. I have written up a pattern for this if anyone would like to have it.
It is worked in DMC size 8 Perle cotton with a size 7 US steel hook. the size is about 1 inch by 1.25 inches. Really quite cute I think.
